Introduction

As the world steps further forward into the digital age, many organizations need to update their operations. But what, specifically, do we mean by "digital"? And why should an organization strive to become digital? What benefits are there? If there needs to be some kind of wide-ranging transformation, what needs to be transformed? Finally, how should that transformation be accomplished?

The discussion that follows is based partially on our work and partially on the thoughts of others aiding in and undergoing this transformation.

  • Requirements on a new architecture: We present a list of requirements that an adequate architecture for a digital organization must fulfill.
